Morgan Barnett is a painter and field biologist from Portland, Oregon, currently residing in the Willamette Valley.
Her paintings are ethereal, earthy depictions of botanicals, insects, and human ephemera elevated into symbolic landscapes. Morgan’s work is informed by ecology and synchronicities of daily life. She studies the idea of home; the rituals of building nests and what it means to belong to, or feel separate from, an ecosystem. These pieces are created as a dialogue between the mundane and personal dream realms, using the objects depicted in each work to function as an emotive narrative. These works often explore states of courage, rest, homemaking, and life transitions.
